Gabourey Sidibe transphobic slurs on Arsenio Hall show.
Keep in mind that on talk shows all stories are pre-screened and rehearsed. Gabourey and the Arsenio people kept this all in and put the clip up on their site.
Gabourney There’s a bar that we would frequent, every night there is a gang of cops arresting trannies. Specifically, trannies.
Gabourney I don’t know what goes on with trannies but that tranny on tranny crime needs to stop, it is tearing our nation apart.
Gabourney, you don’t know whats’ going on. Trans people face street harrassment and police violence. Here is an article about rampant and systemic harrassment and discrimination by New Orleans police against black and transgender people.
"Within the last four or five months, I’ve been to jail eight or nine times," says Keyasia. "All for something I didn’t do. Because I’m [transgender], that means I’m a prostitute in their eyes." Expressing the frustration in the room, she adds, "I want to go to the French Quarter and hang out and have cocktails just like everyone else. Why can’t I?"
The reason she can’t is because people like you treat us as unhuman jokes on national television. It’s ignorance, it’s bigotry, and it needs to end. Also, in New Orleans police put trans women into mens jails,
"local police arrested her after finding condoms in her bag. She was subsequently incarcerated at Orleans Parish Prison, where another inmate forced her to have unprotected sex with him. [TRANS HOLLYWOOD NOTE: This is called "raped."] She later heard he was HIV-positive."
So know that you are a person that is SO BORED about how slow life in Lousiana while tragic civil rights injustices are happening right in front of your face and you think….they’re funny.
