gumball-shogun:

I’ll admit, I didn’t expect to find a message like this in a Deadpool comic.
 Well done.

Out trans people at the Glaad Media Awards in LA!This was a big year for GLAAD and trans issues a year after they changed their name and committed to incorporation of bi and trans issues and diversity in allyship. This year came to a close with the GLAAD Media Award in Los Angeles (followed by the remaining Awards in NY) We are over the moon to see trans people represented in GLAAD and feel  like they have done a very good job working against trans defamation last year. The awards themselves prominently featured the term “transgender’ and Sarah Kate Ellis Presidential address to the audience talked about the fight for trans people, especially trans youth. Actress Ellen Page presented the Stephen F. Kolzak award to Laverne Cox after a touching video tribute to Laverne. Naomi Campbell called for trans models in modeling and called to Carmen Carrera. The Awards themselves featured featured many shows with trans themes including Elementary, Orange is the New Black, Glee, and The Fosters (which was featured prominently as J Lo was present and received the Vanguard Award.) The beautiful trophy presenter was not a hired model but GLAAD’s own hard-working Media Strategist Dani Heffernan. Dani mentioned she stepped in for a cancellation but we hope to see this trend continue. Trans Hollywood counted 16 out trans people attending the awards this year (let us know if we missed anyone) and found these joyful photos on their public instagram accounts, Photos (c) authors. Pictured Top Left to Right: TopJenny Finney Boylan - Author, Professor, GLAAD Co-Chair, Consultant on Amazon’s “Transparent.”  Jenny’s Twitter Carmen Carerra - Model, Reality Star, Carmen’s TwitterOur Lady J - Singer, Musician Our Lady J’s TwitterLaverne Cox - Actress, Producer Laverne’s TwitterRow 2Calpernia Addams - Actress, MusicianCalpernia’s TwitterAndrea James - Actress, Producer Andrea’s TwitterIan Harvie - Comedian, ActorIan’s TwitterChaz Bono - Reality Star Chaz’s TwitterRow 3Charlize Toratani - Editor, Filmmaker, LA Trans Film Fest lead. Charlize’s LinkedInMarci Bowers - Surgeon, GLAAD Board of Directors MemberMarci’s WebsiteShadi Petosky - Writer, ProducerShadi’s TwitterDani Heffernan - GLAAD Media StrategistDani’s Twitter

Trans Man Comic Ian Harvie cast in Amazon’s “Transparent!”
"Transparent" creator Jill Soloway committed to bringing trans people on to the series if it was picked up and she’s doing it so far. There are three confirmed trans crew members and Ian is the first in front of the camera with at least one more on the horizon. Congratulations Ian! We’ve heard good things about Ian’s acting.
